Pregnant? Lost Interest in Sex? Read This:

One of our followers DMed us and said: “I’ve lost interest in sex since I’ve became pregnant … what can I do?”

Don’t worry, you are not alone. Many women go off sex when they’re pregnant. There are practical ways to help your partner understand why you’re feeling like this. If you’re actually interested in being sexually active again, there are many ways to give your body the boost that it needs to be intimate.

There are plenty of reasons why you may have lost interest. The hormones coursing through your body may be affecting your libido, and you might have some fears about the impact on your baby. Pregnancy also brings a whole new host of worries and concerns, and it can be hard to feel sexy when you're stressed. All this could mean that you don't feel spontaneously turned on like in the past.

Once you’re ready to have sex again, take it really slowly. I would suggest at least 15 minutes - preferably half an hour - before any touching of genitals or breasts. And agree beforehand that if you’re still not interested that you can stay with the cuddling and skip the sex. Having sex when you’re not in the mood may build up more problems for the future and widen the emotional gap between you.

But when you are truly ready:

  • Pre-Plan and Pre-Pare. When you first become comfortable with the idea of being intimate again, make sure that your lady parts are prepped and ready for action. Luxury Yoni has a product called pH-resh Duo that will keep it right and tight! The first product of the duo is the Foam Me Up Feminine Wash and it restores and maintains a Healthy pH. It is a 100% Natural Foaming Feminine Wash. Infused with ingredients like Aloe Vera, Calendula, Rose Water & Coconut Oil that wash away bacteria that can cause odor & infections, keeping  your vagina cleansed, smelling & feeling clean and fresh all day. Then use the second part of the duo, the Rose Luxe Elixor Oil. It’s perfect for if you suffer from dryness, odor, and have experienced painful sex. It can be used on the “outside” and the “inside” as It's an all natural elixir made from high quality essential oils that prevent and eliminate odor and give you the "wetness" down there that your partner will love. This oil is an amazing moisturizer and it is very soothing. Luxe Elixir Oil is a natural way to keep your lady parts fresh, sweet and moisturized.
  • Experiment with new sexual positions. When pregnancy weight gain causes your belly to enlarge, try lying on your side during sex, either facing toward or away from your partner, suggests Perez-Delboy. Having the woman on top may also be more comfortable, because she can control the depth of penetration. Other options are for the woman to position herself on hands and knees with her partner kneeling behind or for her to sit on his lap.

Women shouldn’t lie flat on their back in late pregnancy because the weight of the baby and the weight of their partner may put pressure on the inferior vena cava, a large vein that brings blood back to your heart. Pressure can cause dizziness and cause your heart rate to speed up

  • Communicate openly. You and your partner may have different ideas about how often to have sex during pregnancy. Talk about each other’s changing needs. If intercourse when pregnant becomes difficult, particularly in the final stage of pregnancy, find ways other than penetration to be close, such as using massage or cuddling.

  • The most important thing you can do is be patient with yourself and give yourself grace. Your body is changing at an exponential rate. If you currently do not desire sex, that is okay. Instead, focus your energy on resting and getting your baby earthside safely.
